BAFTA AWARDS 2011

The British Academy Film Awards are presented in an annual award show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). It is the British counterpart of the Oscars.

Bringing old-Hollywood glamour to her homeland, Emma Watson in a one-shoulder Valentino Haute Couture lace gown swirled in frothy tulle. Here is another nearly-but-not-quite Valentino dress is pretty enough but the poor posture is distorting the look.

Jessica Alba rules the BAFTA red carpet in a cascading empire-waist Atelier Versace gown, statement jewels, a gold Versace clutch and her hair plaited into bands of braids.

Sparkling in a beaded coral Elie Saab gown, the best supporting actress nominee, Amy Adams was a style winner, accenting the look with classic Cartier jewels, Casadei heels and a golden clutch.

Emma Stone gets an Easy A in her off the runway, head-to-toe Lanvin, circling her coral-and-red gown with a tan two-notch belt and adding Lana Jewelry earrings, a gold envelope clutch, bold cuff and pumps.

Hailee Steinfeld, the leading actress nominee in this vintage-inspired Miu Miu peplum dress with a jewel-encrusted bodice frock is a little old for her - she is only 14.

Annette Bening is surely one of Hollywood's hottest fifty-somethings, wowing the BAFTA crowds in an ethereal white one-shoulder Marchesa gown.

Jennifer Lawrence went for the plunge in a strapless ballgown - not a favorite look from the Winter's Bone starlet. The hair is a bit limp and hoping a wardrobe malfunction doesn't happen.

A dramatic rose print gives Thandie Newton's classic and breathtaking Monique Lhuillier gown a fresh and modern appeal, which she plays up with chic Solange Azagury-Partridge jewels.

Helena Bonham Carter looked rather understated by her usual standards in this VivienneWestwood number. Due to the length of her dress,  cannot reveal whether she was wearing odd shoes, as she did at the Golden Globes. Odd as in unmatched, rather than the other sense, which she always embraces.

The little white dress continues to rule the red carpets this season, with Minnie Driver choosing a sleek Temperley London column gown, with jewel detailing.

Nominated for her role in The Kids Are All Right, Julianne Moore is in a blue velvet Tom Ford column gown, while the color of Moore’s velvet strapless gown shone against her alabaster skin, the flow and cut of the dress did her figure no justice as she moved.

Not one of the best looks of the night, Neve Campbell chose a chocolate brown plunging gown for the London awards. The make-up is a little too heavy and ill fitting gown make the actress appear wider than she is.
